WE COULDN’T FIND A THONG THAT FIT. SO WE MADE ONE.
Muted Underwear was started in Melbourne by two women who were tired of choosing between a thong that looked good and one they could actually wear all day.
WHY WE STARTED
We’re Hannah and Olivia. Muted Underwear began with a problem we both had and couldn’t solve by shopping.
Between us we had tried everything on the shelf. They rolled down. They bunched. The gusset was a narrow strip of synthetic fabric that felt awful by the middle of the day, and coverage was an afterthought. There was always the same trade-off — something that looked good, or something we could actually wear.
So we stopped shopping and started designing. Samples, fittings and re-cuts, and a lot of blunt feedback from women who told us exactly what was still wrong, until we had a thong we wanted to wear ourselves.
WHAT WE ACTUALLY CHANGED
Not a new colourway. The parts of a thong that decide whether you can wear it all day.
Wider and extended, in 100% cotton. It’s the part most thongs treat as an afterthought, and the part you feel all day.
More than a conventional thong. Enough that you stop thinking about it.
Cut to sit flat and stay where you put it. No rolling down, no bunching, no adjusting.
Both styles share a 100% cotton gusset. Soft Cotton is 94% cotton with 6% elastane; Flex+ is 75% polyamide with 25% elastane for stretch and moisture-wicking.

STILL A FAMILY BUSINESS
We’re a family-run business, and the manufacturer who makes our thongs is family-run too. Two small teams who know each other, making one product properly.
That closeness is why the product keeps getting better. When customers told us the gusset was too narrow, the sizing ran short or the stitching dug in, that feedback went straight into the next run. The thong we sell today is the version those women asked for.
